The Las Vegas Open Grand Clash happened this month, with Derek Traquair taking the first place prize, earning a Golden Ticket and another trip to Worlds this year. I had the good (bad) fortune to face his Force of Frost Ephilim in round 1, and let me tell you the man deserved the win. That was a viscous deck and piloted extremely well. I have a writeup of my own course through the Nemesis event posted here, and will be cooking up a recap of the Rivals event in the coming days.

LVO was a huge amount of fun for me, getting to finally meet some online personalities face to face. The Crew from What the Hex and their affiliated MadTown team were an absolute pleasure to play and to spend time after hours with. My Underworlds Underground Podcast did a crossover collaboration with them to create the first ever Pink Slips match, in which Mike “Sleeksbowl” took on Brian from WtH in a best of 3 battle for the ages, with the winner taking their opponent’s painted warband home with them. It was honestly one of the more exciting matches I’ve had the pleasure to personally witness, and am super grateful that Alexx of Shadeglass Reflections was on hand to record, edit, and upload the video for everyone else to get in on the suspense. The Path to Glory Podcast has started an audio series creating a Nemesis Tier List, starting with the Shadespire and Nightvault seasons working all the way to the current field of warbands. Everybody loves to debate tier lists, and when the best in the competitive biz gets one going you know it’s good stuff.

With the new errata and FaQ, multiple warbands have changes that can be tough to keep track of for some players. The Northwest UK WHU community has put together these handy Errata cards, which you can take along to your next game night. Just snag the one for your warband, and you’ll have an easy and good-looking reference for the new rules!

Rob Watson has put together a searchable database for the FAQ entries. The most recent FaR and Errata were great updates to the game, but it can be hard to keep track of everything across multiple warbands and rivals decks, especially for somebody just getting into the game. Now, you can just search for the things you’re playing with or a specific rules question you have, and see the news you can use.

Raumzeit77 has created a “Get Started” guide, which is very much in line with my site’s goals and I love to see it. The post includes links to many different places and is a pretty comprehensive list of resources. Give it a look and see if you can find something your new recruits can benefit from!

Wathlab, the Chosen Axes Mafia Don, has completed his 4 year labor of love: Beardgrave, a complete season of Warhammer Underworlds using custom warbands. Give it a look if you ever want some more dwarven variety in your life!

Some stunning work on Ephilim’s Pandaemonium by Josh Crozman, AKA Tryel. So many EP warbands (mine included) have garish cartoony colors, but these ones really look like, well, Daemons. Pale skin, red eyes, and a dark overall effect clash really nicely with the screaming blue magic flames. A+ stuff here. Skabbik’s Plaguepack in purple with cool underlighting and some mild conversions by the same artist this month.

Domitan’s Stormcoven by Sergio Nunes with an excellent dark scheme and red underlighting. Love how the Stormcoven are not really the good guys, and this effect brings that forward in an atmospheric way. Here’s their take on Kainan’s as well.

Grashrak’s Despoilers by gloorgel – such criminally underrepresented minis and you love to see them done this well

Xandire’s Truthseekers by rushputin, which feature headswaps for some sallet helms that make them look like the gothic knights of Harrowdeep. Great battle damage and I love the sea green, red, black, and gold combo they have going here.

The Wielder of the Blade by Laffin11 – the cloth texture and glowing eyes are brilliantly executed, and the blade itself has some excellent non-metallic metal work. Looking forward to the rest of the warband!

James Simison posted some rusty and tarnished Sons of Velmorn, which as usual goes quite nicely with the light blue cloth components.

Daggok’s Stab-ladz by Peppe Sollano – really slick work on the skin and the blue hues on the armor/horn look really nice to offset the bright green. They also posted Grashrak’s Despoilers with again quite nice volumetric skin highlighting. and look at this Vortemis the All-Seeing! Assembled with all nine eyes

Really nice Farstriders NMM by iosefminkov. “Only” a WIP but fantastic work so far.

A cool Old-Man take on Sarpon the Cyclone by Pit of Hollows. After seeing this one I realized nearly every Sarpon I’ve seen closely resembles the card art of a younger man with smooth, dark complexion. This one has a beard, white bushy eyebrows, red-rimmed eyes, mud on the cloak, and a brushed copper effect to add to the overall “I’m too old for this shit” appeal. Matthew Young has posted a nice purple Mollog’s Mob – great to see the big guy have a but of a resurgence on the paint scene recently

Crazy High-vis Zarbag by RalyxTheRed – the contrast on the cloak screams synthwave goblin, and the freehand rust on the sickle is pretty cool. They also posted a Mir Kainan with good shading and a neat effect on the axe, and a grymwatch ghoul with a similar ‘actual artist’ effect

Some Grymwatch models from filthylegz – I expect to see more of these old heroes in the near future as both Malevolent Masks hits the table and more Bretonnian bits are available to convert with. My nemesis Maskwatch is 3-0 so far this month!
