July’s featured photo is this picture of the competitors at the Tacoma Open this year – almost all of us, anyway! Glad to have had the opportunity to hang out with so many cool people for the weekend and play with so many new friends. If there’s an Organized Play Event near you, I wholeheartedly recommend you attend if able!

Thomas of Underworlds Underground, Aran from Tuscson, and Skyler from What the Hex headed to Canada to compete in the Alberta Classic Grand Clash. They were foolish enough to let me interview them on the Underworlds Underground Podcast, which you can listen to here!
Goonhammer, the biggest tabletop gaming website and a dominant presence in the warhammer scene, has FINALLY brought back Underworlds content! This article is the first posted since 2022, and describes how Jake ran the Grand Clash at the Goonhammer Open this month. Looking forward to more WHU content from the big boys!
Path to Glory finished their Nemesis tier list, and you can hear the discussion on this podcast episode. They also posted up a picture of the tierlist itself on the blog, which you can view here. Now get your pitchforks out and rabble!
Path to Glory has also published a podcast on the four main archetypes of playstyle/warband, which is great education for new players and old. Additionally, they open the episode with a ‘Bane of Zeroes’ discussion on when to draw a card rather than take a fighter action, which is concise yet very informative. This episode is as close to a ‘must listen’ as you’re going to get!
What the Hex has published a podcast on How to Run a Tournament, featuring Jake who just ran the Goonhammer Open. It’s full of helpful tips – please consider running a tournament of your own! It’s easy! It grows the community! These guys can help!
Critical Focus Channel is back with a quick 30-minute battle report between Sepulchral Guard with Paths of Prophecy and Gryselle’s Arenai with Breakneck Slaughter. I’ve played this matchup before myself and it’s always an interesting one
Agents of Sigmar have continued to push out Underworlds videos despite also being tied up with AoS 4th edition (spearhead looks cool!). Here’s a video titled “Five (and some more) underworlds warbands we think are great for beginners!“
Random Wargamer has another battle report up, this time with Storm of Celestus taking on Garrek’s Reavers. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there is a certain card scored at the very end of the game that you just love to see…
Cinderfall gaming continues to produce Underworlds live-play videos, this time releasing Kainan’s Reapers vs Gryselle’s Arenai in a rivals game.
Finally, the Staggerers are back with a discussion on Rimewyrm’s Bite and whether or not it deserves the boogeyman status people assumed it would have upon elease. It looks at both Nemesis and Championship, and it’s great to see them push out some more content after a but of a break!
Events/Organized Play
This month was the Tacoma Open Grand Clash, and despite the Canadian sweep it was a great time. Here’s my overview of the event. Grand Clashes are fun and you should go to one! Look how happy we are in the featured photo up top.
This month also featured the first Underworlds tournament at the Goonhammer Open, which was won by Craig using Parasite GSP. Check out his recap here.
The Warhammer World Nemesis Clash saw 28 players fight it out and have Gnarlspirit with Tooth and Claw take the top spot, piloted by James Waters. In the Rivals clash this month, 30 players squared off to see Dan Findlay-Robinson’s Kunnin Krew come out as the winner. Great to see the twice-monthly contest continue with a good number of players!
UPCOMING
As usual, check out Check out the Global Events Calendar here: you can filter by country and see what’s happening in your corner of the world. Note this is in GMT so hours may be off for you depending on your time zone. I’ll call out a few things that have me excited below.
The next Madtown Throwdown on August 17th in Madison WI will have a ticket to worlds on the line! Three rounds of best-of-three nemesis action – don’t miss it if you’re nearby. Meet the WtH crew!
The NOVA Open in the Lesser Washington (DC) will be held August 28-September 1st, and will have an Underworlds Grand Clash! go to www.novaopen.com and get your tickets to hang out with the crowd that will include lots of big competitive names from the US East coast including people from Battlemallet and Path to Glory. Should be a good time!
SoCal open with my buddy Saxthom as the TO will be held Oct 19-20 – the link says ‘champs’ but I’m told the event is Nemesis, the champs just refers to it being a competitive event and not a Championship format event.
The Polish Team Championships will also be held October 19-20 and is as always a very high-level contest.

Sarpon, The Cyclone in a remarkably shiny NMM gold by Obalon

Kainan’s Reapers in a creepy purple by Angel Sinant of Lithis Mini Studio, who also has completed Mollog’s Mob in a similarly spooky feel. Plus, check out these Ephilim’s Pandaemonium in a really cool purple and green– offset quite well by the white robes!
