Featured this month is my local Vanja who just never fails to knock it out of the park. These Daggok’s Stab-Ladz are brilliantly green and I love the acid/poison effect on the weaponry. He also shared a few other warbands on reddit here: be sure to look at the Sons of Velmorn as well.

Underworlds Underground sat down with David/Beardarm and Andy/Hammersauce for our 10th episode to talk about the Tacoma Open. Listen in to hear how I lost, David Won, and Andy’s joining him at Worlds! We talk at length about how fun organized play is and why you should consider participating in a tournament near you no matter how long you’ve been playing or how ‘good’ you are.

The WHU Stats project has continued apace with some really good analysis from Borni this month. The best thing since Metawatch, or maybe better, since we can see the numbers), he breaks down what’s being played, what’s doing well, what’s going to tournaments, and what’s changed since the latest FAQ/Errata.

Submit your games to the form itself here if they are in Nemesis format and both players are intending to win with some baseline knowledge of the rules. Special instructions for submitting tournament data within, but any games can count. Please help us understand where things sit!

The latest FAQ and Errata have been uploaded to https://underworlds-faq.info for those who like to search that database. Great for on-the-fly rules lookups and now matches the most recent set of changes. Thanks to Rob Watson for the effort!

What the Hex Podcast has produced a bunch of content this month, and I particularly enjoyed this “what’s your motivation” episode in collaboration with BattleMallet to cover reasons to play and enjoy this community besides just fighting for Grand Clash trophies.

Path to Glory Podcast has put out several new items this month, including a very poignant “Meta Analysis” featuring the Hungering Parasite

Critical Focus Channel continues their Lore of the Underworlds series with a discussion on the Direchasm warbands

Staggerers has put out an updated ping tier list with good analysis of which ones are best to use and their limitations. Best suited for Championship players, it still has good use case descriptions for Nemesis as well.

Jon Grant muses on the future of Undwerworlds (though this was written before we had some concrete promises of something BIG coming VERY soon – get exctied, friends)

It fell off my radar, but the Flavor Text database still exists! TwelveSmallHats worked on this long ago and has continued to update it with every piece of card text and lore in the entire game, all the way through Wintermaw. Check it out and read up!

The Agents of Sigmar have continued to post quite frequently this month, but my personal favorite of the things they put out is this video on “Why Underworlds is great and why we think it’s worth playing” – hopefully helpful for bringing in people who are sitting on the fence in your local scene (just in time for… New Underworlds”)

Events/Organized Play

The Czech League continued in strength – with 23 players attending a tournament in Hradec Králové, the winner of the event was De Niel with The Crimson Court.

Agents Con went down in the UK, with Gareth Davies taking the win with Zondara’s Gravebreakers and Hungering Parasite, a very solid pairing. Jon Grant, who came incredibly close to taking the whole thing with Tooth and Claw Lady’s Harrows wrote up a blog of the experience here.

Minis & Mayhem went down in Richmond BC, and Steven Painter emerged victorious, grabbing the title of Champion of M&M 2024, and proving that Ephilim + Seismic Shock still has teeth despite the nerfs to the warband.

The Warhammer World Rivals clash this month saw Gorechosen of Dromm take the top spot out of 34 players – congrats to Jak Matchette! The 20-player Nemesis Clash saw James Waters pilot Lady Harrows with Masks to the victory – a very strong passive play combination at the moment, and you always love to see Masks do well. Paths of Prophecy Sepulchral Guard came in second! Hold is back on the menu!

North West Underworlds (out of the UK, I suppose there can be multiple NWs out there) held a golden ticket event that in the end is sending James Waters who won with Lady Harrow’s Mournflight out of 24 players.

James waters is on a tear, because he also took Lady Harrow’s to the victory at THE KRKUR KURSE at Crookes Social Club.

The CLÄSH, a Stuttgart grand tournament in Germany was also held. I don’t happen to know the winner, but there are a couple videos on Iba’s Underworlds to watch live matches for those interested

Spanish Vassal league that supports both Nemesis and Championship play is coming up. The deadline for registration is Friday, October 11. Play online! Brush up on your Spanish!

The SoCal Open is running Oct 19-20 in Del Mar California, with my buddy and Underworlds Underground cohost Saxthom as the TO. Get down there and say hello. Golden Ticket on the line if enough people register- do it! It’s even a Frontline Gaming Achievement Dice event so you get more chances for more swag.

The Polish Team Championships will also be held October 19-20 and is as always a very high-level contest.

The Prague Open will be held November 2-3 in the Czech Republic, featuring several games including Warhammer Underworlds.

Vellas von Faine painted in dark armor with great work on skin tones by ShakyPluto. It’s also a WiP, but this Snake Archer form Morgwaeth’s Blade Coven is a stunner

Liam Hopkins has finished that Krushas vs Sons diorama from a few months back and it looks SO nice

It’s only a sneak peak, but Volomir Miniatures is closing in on finishing the Headkrakka Diorama, likely to come in Orktober!

Beautifully done Domitan’s Stormcoven by Jorge Martos Gómez (individual photos can be seen here) – this was taken to Freak Wars in Madrid and must have been a real sight in a Grand Clash setting.

Remarkable Pater Filius by Xerudar – really lifelike metal and bone, with silky clothy and great skin work as well. top notch stuff.

Razek Godblessed in the traditional Warrior of Chaos scheme by Nightscale Studio, and dang does he look good. Excellent shading on the cloak and highlighting on the battle damage. Here’s Khagra as well as Dour Cragan which look just as nice.

Kyle Dalton (Pale King Hobby) with a beautifully painted Mollog this month. He also posted some reshot photography of the Gorechosen of Dromm.

Aemos Duncarrow converted into a Warpriest of Sigmar for Mordheim by Piotr Kułaga – lots of neat sculpting going on here

Beautiful scenic diorama bases (and well done warbands) by Erwan Hascoët – love the Ylthari’s Guardians

Khagra’s Ravagers painted by Kuba Lubi in a very poppy bright style – absolutely love the acid green blade in Cragan’s hand.

Christine Orton painted some copper and purple Domitan’s Stormcoven which look great as always out of her lightbox

Crimson Court by Bakti Viktor – black tones abound and really nicely done

Grib Da Wonky Lance painted with the squig in a brilliant yellow by Caelan Harshaw – such a difficult effect to achieve but it looks so good here.

Cool conversions on a yellow-themed Grymwatch by Grich Ka

The Dread Pageant in neon cold colors which really get the carnival effect going. Excellent work as usual by Tiev and the grey skin really helps keep the attention on the garish ornamentation.

Hexy Store has some hex-based ‘terrain’ for sale, much like you could get with the Nightvault and Beastgrave terrain sets. A few themed options here to spice up your game boards if that’s something you’re interested in.

Ivan Ugnichev of The ICHI Forge continues to make 3D printable proxies for warbands – take a look at these “Graveyard Gatekeepers”. Sneak Peeks on their own page show that Ironsku- I mean, uh, Rustskull’s Boiz will be next and they look mighty stronk and proppa ‘uge.
