This year, I have the distinct honor of being part of the live broadcast team for the World Championships of Warhammer in Atlanta GA. I’ll be commentating matches across the course of four days along with Davy of What the Hex and the two of us will do our best to provide a showcase of some of the best players in the world competing in the Embergard edition. Click here to watch the live stream!

The World Championships will be held from November 21 to 24 and you can view the matches live (as well as after the fact) on The Mortal Realms youtube channel – we will have some live graphics to show score, card images, fighter stats, and more. Over 4 days, 50 players will compete in 10 games to determine the Underworlds 2024 champion, with every player regardless of standing fighting to increase their national score and determine a ‘best country’.
The first two days, Thursday and Friday, will be pool days, with the top players in each pool after 6 Bo3 qualifying for the finals which is determined to consist of 16 players. Those finalists will then complete four more matches over the final two days to determine the inaugural Embergard World Champion. Other competitors who do not make the top cut will compete in open brackets to continue to accrue national points, so every game will mean something!

The championships will be played with the new version of Underworlds, each choosing from among the the 31 warbands released for the competitive game thus far – this includes 16 warbands from the four Grand Alliance boxes, as well as two unreleased Rivals decks – it will not only be a chance to witness some of the game’s best players, but also your first live look into some otherwise Top Secret content! You’ll get a peek at Reckless Fury, which has a focus on manipulating charge tokens, and Wrack and Ruin, which focuses on spreading damage across the board.
You can follow along with the results which will will be on BestCoastPairings, follow the event on the official Warhammer Twitch (which will likely cover more 40k and AoS content), and of course on The Mortal Realms youtube channel where Davy and I will commentate for something like 30 hours over these four days.
I hope you’re able to tune in, and let’s watch some World Champions spend their glory!
