Featured this month is the magnificent brace of trophies from the World Championships of Warhammer held in Atlanta. It was a huge privilege to be able to attend as a livestream commentator and witness some of the world’s best play at the top of their game in Embergard. I’ll have some links to individual games in the Organized Play section below if you want to watch any of them.

A huge amount of stuff came out this month as we entered the new edition blitz, but I want to call special attention to a project Reddit user RHeaven90 put together. Many warbands had their rules released for free online, and this person went out and put together properly sized and formatted images for you to print your fighter cards and warscrolls in photo quality so you can play with physical copies. I tested a few of the warscroll prints myself and they’re spot on. I’ll throw the links down here.

The Mortal Realms/What the Hex had me on as a guest commentator for the live coverage of the World Championships of Warhammer – it was a lot of fun and more importantly got to showcase a lot of the top talent in the world playing the new edition of the game. We have pulled more than 12K views so far! Crazy to think there’s that many people out there listening to me ham it up.
Agents of Sigmar has put together a very helpful video titled “What can I use in Warhammer Underworlds Embergard?!”, and it covers exactly that. If you’re lost in the woods and don’t know what old stuff you can make use of, look no further.
Critical Focus Channel has a Nemesis Batrep up from the new Embergard core box. You can also check out their showdown between Kainan’s Reapers (featuring their new warscroll!) and the Jaws of Itzl (A brand new warband!)
CFC also has a community painting showcase video if you’d like to take a look at some cool art
Iba’s Underworlds takes a look at the newly released warscrolls for returning warbands, opening with Cyreni’s Razors which you can see here. The channel has several other warscroll reviews if you like that content!
BLOGS
What the Hex has excellent review content of the couple dozen things that came out this month – check out your favorites here!
Battle Mallet has updated the Nemesis Deck Library to include most of the things taken to the World Championships of Warhammer, as well as at least one Nemesis deck for each of the 33 legal warbands. Give it a look to get started on your own deckbuilding experiments!
Set the Tempo now pulls double duty at Path to Glory as they continue to expand their team. Here’s Matt’s first article covering the Blazing Assault Rivals Deck and how best to use it in a Nemesis deckbuild.
Matt also cooked up a Nemesis Tier List following worlds, which are always great for discussion and debate
Staggerers has written up a deck guide for his Cyreni’s Razors deck he took to worlds, covering specific card choices in this article.
The Monkey’s Hex has put out some preliminary analysis on the new boards in the Embergard box, and while there’s less to think about now with the new single board setup, competitive players will still want to give this a read.
Goonhammer also has an evaluation of the new boards, but perhaps most importantly there are now printer-friendly copies of the new boards so you can make some yourself and get playing with friends who don’t have their own boards, or for sharing with new players who haven’t bought in yet
The Magmahold shared a tournament write-up as her final event in first edition. Read here to see Xandire’s Truthseekers with Hungering Parasite (which have a really neat red and black color scheme) get up to some dangerous business.
The Magmahold has also posted this article about how to play Embergard over webcam if you want to get some distance games in over the holidays
The WHU Stats project is going strong. Second Edition stats are now live, so submit your games in the Nemesis format so we can better understand this new meta as we all get to grips with these new warscrolls and decks

TwelveSmallHats has updated the lore database again, this time to include the Embergard cards. If you love flavor text, give it a look!
Events/Organized Play
It was a bit of a slower month for organized play as the world held their breath for the World Championships. That said, a few things did happen and a ton of action went down in Atlanta, so we still have plenty to talk about.
The Prague Open was held November 2-3 in the Czech Republic, and was played in the first edition/Wintermaw ruleset. Here’s a youtube video showing the Grand Finale as the Sepulchral Guard piloted by Thomas Kyrsting played into the Thricefold Discord played by Jan Komárek, and here’s a summary post on facebook for photos of the event
Wathlab has held another Beardgrave Small Clash which looks to have been pretty successful, had good variety and balance, and is a great alternate way to play first edition online.
There was a Rivals event in the UK that saw Dan Davies, fresh off the world championships take home the prize with the Emberwatch and Emberstone Sentinels. I’m told there were no mirror matches acros 8 warbands represented – a great spread!
The First Flames of Embergard was held in Vienna Austria, and was won by The Emberwatch.
The Warhammer World Championships of Warhammer were held in Atlanta and BOY HOWDY was it a good time. I have video links to prelim interviews as well as full commentated games from each round of the tournament. Congrats to Daniele of Italy for taking the event with The Thricefold Discord in an absolutely stacked field of competitors. These videos have already racked up 12K views, but if you haven’t taken a peek, I highly recommend it. And not just because I’m yapping in them all!

Painting/Hobby
“The Last Waaagh” by Toni Garcia – a phenomenal diorama featuring Wollop Da Skul from Headkrakka’s Madmob. This berserker is replete with warpaint and peppered with arrows as he chargbes down a remarkably detailed grassy hill. Masterful work from CHK Minis.
Some excellent alternate color schemes for the Grandfather’s Gardeners by Vincent Knotley, with guides on how to produce each on your own minis. The blue and red ones particularly caught me eye.
Incredible detail and kingly purple robes on the Sons of Velmorn by Javier Rodríguez Lozano. A warband that’s had a hundred award-worthy renditions, and yet this one jumps toward the top of the list.
Really fancy Gloomspite Gitz conversions for Zikkit’s Tunnelpack by Ricki Smith – mini doomwhells and grenadiers in goblin form. Take a look!
GREAT red Ironskull’s Boyz by Seng Chea who look to be sporting obsidian blades as well.
Sneak Peek work in progress on a crazy-cool diorama concept from Liam Hopkins – Cyreni of the Abyss riding some sort of Manta Ray/Shark beast and I cannot wait to see this thing completed.
Draknar looking his best on some Old World basing by Maysonator – a personal favorite, done right.
Zikkit’s Tunnelpack with some gorgeous work on the cloth and skin by MiniJunkie
Really cool purple shadows within red cloaks on Skabbik’s Plaguepack by quesel – cool little bit of fluorescence too
Great highlighting and lighting effects on the Gnarlspirit Pack by Nikos Xontos
Severin Steelheart in a FILTHY black and purple scheme by 61Painting. Excellent highlighting and blending throughout.
Kyril Kalinov dropped three great paint jobs this month – here’s a well highlighted Gorechosen of Dromm, some pink cloth on Xandire’s Truthseekers, and some snazzy Khagra’s Ravagers
Stormsire’s Cursebreakers with some fancy head swaps by 61 painting
Agents of Sigmar showing off their Jaws of Itzl, as well as Slunge from the Grandfathers’ Gardeners
Thricefold Discord with really smooth blending and striking red accents on the bases by Vyrullax
The grimmest, darkest Zarbag by RudeHobbit
Converted Stormcoven by Col.Festus which includes some slick blue flames – a closeup of which can be seen here
Gulgoch the Butcher by Robert (maslyn101) with stark highlighting on the armor and a realistic dirt base
Prince Duvalle with some great blood effects, glowing eyes, and pallid skin by BrownTownGames
The Wurmspat with great basing foliage by Rovient
Ennias Curseborn in a remarkable purpled skin tone by wightstarminis – pro level stuff
Ironsoul’s Condemnors in a Black Templars space marine theme by firebacon321 – the red glow on the eyes is really effective. They also painted these particularly ghoulish Skinnerkin which are extra creepy
Cyreni’s Razors (and their tournament glass trophy) by kriegschneck.aos, who took that team with Force of Frost to win first place at Brumderworlds 2024.
Ian Floyd dropped several warband paintjobs in preparation for Embergard, but I especially like the questing knights conversion on Steelheart’s Champions
Fluorescent Grinkrak by studio489
The Emberwatch by xinix3 with light grey cloaks and silver armor – really lets the accent colors pop
Orange and fiery Shadeborn painted for Embergard by Mischief_95 – love the effect
White Dwarf style Zarbag’s Gitz that feel like the Night Goblins of old – great detail on the freehand by Datsi, who also put together this fancy Mollog’s Mob – and don’t forget this GORGEOUS pink and bronze Dread Pageant. Home run effort here.
Grimy Emberwatch by Relevant_Fuel_9905 – looks like they’ve been delving the mines for some time! I especially like the amber glow on the sniper’s crossbow runes
Cool underglow on the Sons of Velmorn by Nikos Xontos
It’s a work-in-progress shot, but these white armored Emberwatch from adwodon are looking really cool
Khagra’s Ravagers in the ever popular Quad-God style by Tiev, who is also coming through with some beautiful Starblood Stalkers in some relatively legit reptile colors

Emberwatch in black and red with great edge highlighting by YaezakiSumiso
Really cool shadowy ice blue Ylthari’s Guardians by FritzeHaarmann

Gwynne Ironsoul in NMM by Pungvunchuk
Exiled Dead in a purple glow by xinix3
Rising Petitioner by Hijo-de-Cain which has some excellent shading and it looks like a 2D painting in some respect, really nice perspective work and photography. I mean, they even painted individual teeth!
Beautiful Zikkit’s Tunnelpack by Johannes Helleberg
Blackpowder’s Buccaneers by Kristian Karlsson, who also has painted Daggok’s Stab-Ladz in a cool dark scheme
Fun conversion on Steelheart’s Champions to make them into ‘Stormcast of the Damned’ by Dan Knight
Miscellaneous
Honza Skýpala has designed a new 3D printable token case for Embergard, which has space for a deck as well as a Warscroll. Check it out on Thingverse!
Lego proxies of the Sepulchral Guard and Farstriders – copsincars has a 6 year old kid who wanted to play, but the minis were too fragile. This is a cute and funny way to work around that problem!
Zamjobrash made a custom foam-cut Embergard board which gives a cool stone texture 3D appearance to things and adds a lot of atmosphere to the game. Love the execution!
Wathlab, the world’s foremost Chosen Axes Enjoyer, has cooked up a custom Fyreslayers warscroll for Embergard in case you didn’t want to use the WarCom Grand Alliance generic scrolls.
That’s a wrap! Tune in next month for December’s highlights, and don’t forget to Spend your Glory!
