Featured this month is a fancy Glisette painted by TheRealBiggieJ. Great textures across the skin, cloth, hair, and metallic aspects with a nice color scheme that hints at the luxuriance of the Dread Pageant without overselling it like many schemes (mine included) tend to do.

Before we dive into the usual roundup stuff, I wanted to shout out the Warhammer Heroes program, which has its nominations live this month. If there’s somebody you know in the Warhammer community who deserves to be recognized for their heroics, selfless giving-back, or just being an all-around standup individual, you have until the end of the month to write to GW about why they should get an award. Make sure you get the nominee’s email address and consent to be nominated! Would be really cool to see some Underworlds representation when they announce the recipients in March. Surely somebody in your local scene has run a charity event or the like.

What the Hex published a heartfelt warm-fuzzies review of their experience at the World Championships of Warhammer, and also have a pretty interesting discussion about how to best leverage the new Grandfather’s Gardeners now that two of them have had substantial practice.

The Battle Mallet Podcast posted their overview of the newest warbands, the Jaws of Itzl and Grandfathers’ Gardeners

Aman of Path to Glory sat down with Daniele Gorini – the past champ interviewing the present World Champion of Underworlds – and the two had a good discussion about competitive prep and how to have a championship mentality. Pretty good listen for those interested in competitive play, and an interesting look into the mind of the game’s current top dog.

CFC has also started a new series of short videos on ‘fixing bad warscrolls’ starting with the Dread Pageant. I have personally been having a lot of fun with that warband and while it could potentially use a few touches here and there I wouldn’t go so far as to call it ‘bad’! That said it’s a neat idea for a series on theorycrafting balance updates and I look forward to more.

Agents of Sigmar have several battle reports this month and have to everybody’s great happiness brought back the card graphics overlay. Here’s their exploration of the new Jaws of Itzl vs the new Grandfather’s Gardeners.

It’s a first edition battle report, but Random Wargamer has a match between Steelheart’s Champions (The OG!) and Drepur’s Wraithcreepers that ends… unfortunately how you’d expect

Set the Tempo has an interesting exploration of Nemesis deck size in Embergard – historical wisdom says you should target 12 Objectives, 10 Gambits, and 10 Upgrades – but with an increase in card draw (with a big increase for some warbands), the potential for Focus actions, and a new game – is it advisable to take more cards? I’ve heard several different takes on this question and it’s always interesting to read another.

Michael K of Staggerers has put up a ‘meta-analysis’ of The Thricefold Discord and The Gorechosen of Dromm – two of the more powerful warbands at Worlds and generally in the game at the moment. Read here to see why they’re so strong and how to potentially deal with them if you find yourself across the table from these champions.

Laura of The Magmahold has written up her own year in review and announced she is headed to the Grand Clash at Warhammer World in February, so register for that if you’d like to meet her and also play some WHU2

Goonhammer’s Starting Hex series has a new article titled “What is Warhammer Underworlds, Second Edition” designed for Embergard. If you are curious to learn more about the game or have a friend who wants a quick primer on what exactly this is all about, it’s a great starting point!

Events/Organized Play

First Flames of Embergard in Austria was held on December 1st was a 14-player event, and the winning warband was The Emberwatch with Blazing Assault and Emberstone Sentinels.

Warsaw Masters in Poland 12/7 was a 16-player event, and the winning warband was the Thricefold Discord with Blazing Assault and Countdown to Cataclysm.

Element Legends in the UK (Rivals) was a 16-player event, and the winning warband was Morgok’s Krushas with Blazing Assault.

Beer and Crits was held in Italy 12/22 and was a 12-player event, and the winning warband was Zarbag’s Gitz with Pillage and Plunder with Countdown to Cataclysm.

Warhammer World held their monthly Rivals Clash, and Daniel Davies Mendoza took it out of a field of 22 players while piloting Ylthari’s Guardians with Wrack and Ruin. Also Undefeated were Headsmen’s with RF and Gardeners with ES.

In what came as no surprise to me personally, that INSANE Wurmspat kitbash from Mike Miklowski-Paszek took Gold in the single minis category at Cult of Paint.

Lukas has finished that crazy pink Thricefold – here’s the close ups of Lascivyr – and it earned him Bronze in the Masters level Unit Category at Cult of Paint

Winning Gold in that very same category was Javier Rodriguez Lozano and his purple Sons of Velmorn which you may remember from last month’s roundup

Mind-blowing Jaws of Itzl by Peppe Solano which has some seriously-I-don’t-know-how-he-did-it NMM silver-yet-purple thing going on. He also posted up galleries of his old warbands, and I particularly like the Direchasm one

Cool diorama of Thugg charging after some poor wood elf by Conscious_Scratch656. The level of weathering and rust on the armor really contrasts well with the extreme highlights and makes him an imposing figure to be sure.

Bryn Jones painted another awesome diorama of Ylthari’s Guardians in a pretty dense, realistic moods setting. The ethereal blue really jumps out here
