Featured this month is “She who thirsts, devours”, a phenomenal diorama by Ethan Wilcox featuring the Dread Pageant in a really cool layout, with NMM, OSL, freehand, a beheading, Grecian pottery, you name it. The project took several months to complete and is legitimately Golden Daemon level stuff. I mean, look at it… Christ on a Cracker!

Borgit’s Beastgrabbaz came out this month, and I did my first warband review on Spent Glory! I also had the opportunity to do the same for the Edge of the Knife Rivals Deck. I’m looking for ways to improve my reviews for future releases, so I’d appreciate your feedback.
Another cool thing that doesn’t quite fit into the other categories is the Nemesis Statistics Project, which has long run on a big old Google sheet, now has a Dashboard for easy viewing, filtering and analysis. Check it out and see what your favorite warband/deck pairing is looking like for competitive play!

Tier Lists! Everyone’s favorite. Critico y Culo has released their initial Nemesis tierlist as of February 2025 and while I may not agree with everything there, it’s always nice for someone to have put in the effort to compose one.
What the Hex has fired up a new blog to complement their release reviews and podcast lineup. This first entry, titled “Step by Step Volume 1” follows Zach “TheMisterDoctor” as he goes through the process of selecting a warband to take to Adepticon.
Bacon’s Bits is back at Path to Glory! Mark covers his thoughts on the foundations of building a Nemesis deck and makes a strong case for choosing Blazing Assault, Pillage & Plunder, or Countdown to Cataclysm as the backbone of your build.
Staggerers published a cool concept article called ‘Dexamples’ wherein they look at Edge of the Knife paired with every other deck (except cataclysm because they both have plot cards) to create 5 different Nemesis decks and suggestions for warbands to pair them with.
Goonhammer/Starting Hex has a list of what warbands are legal for Organized Play and where you can find them, since it can get a little confusing for new people (and some old timers too).
Laura from the Magmahold attended the Warhammer World Grand Clash that had 124 competitors and took Cyreni’s Razors. You can read her writeup of the event here and hear how she went 4-2 to tie for 22nd, and then read a nice little analysis of the warband representation and deck choices at the event.
Critico y Culo has a writeup of the Grymwatch Deck taken by Volomir, WHW Grand Clash winner, with 15 objectives and wild strategy of angling for Underdog status to get more out of In the Name of the King.
Events/Organized Play

WHW held a ‘warm-up’ Nemesis Clash on February 7th, the evening before the Grand Clash clash in a three round event that featured 72 players! It was won by Val and his Jaws of Itzl using CtC/BA. You can read Val’s Write-up here (and he also took this warband to second place in the main event the following day). There were several other undefeated players, it being a huge field with short rounds, but surprises in those 9 were Adam Pearson with Farstiders and Mads Birch with Zondara’s Gravebreakers – two warbands I have apparently been overlooking.
WHW Grand Clash happened the following day, and was won by Volomir playimng the Grymwatch, which holy smokes I didn’t see coming. That warband on top in a field of 124 players. Critico y Culo has a writeup of the Grymwatch Deck Volomir, WHW Grand Clash winner, took to the top with 15 objectives and wild strategy of angling for Underdog status to get more out of In the Name of the King, and there is another perspective written up by Laura of the Magmahold blog detailing her run with Cyreni’s Razors. Let’s peek at her chart showing warband selection below because it’s really insightful.

One thing I found particularly interesting about the WHW Grand Clash is that since there were so many players, we were able to get a great look at what the ‘meta’ is. We learned two major things: Countdown to Cataclysm is pretty good (not news), and the breadth of warband selection is really healthy. Every warband that’s legal in the game save for five were taken by at least one player (and only 6 of the warbands were singletons!). Two of those not taken (Blackpowder and Hexbane) will be helped out by the release of the Edge of the Knife deck. The Farstriders weren’t taken that day, but they also podiumed in the Clash the day prior, going undefeated across three games out of a field of 72 players. That really only leaves us with Grinkrak’s Looncourt (who were taken to the 3 rounder and tied for 46th/72) and The Brethren of the Bolt stuck on the bench. Considering that means you have a Grand Clash use case for 31 of the total 33 eligible bands, this game’s variety looks to be in a really comfortable place and I couldn’t be happier.
A 23-man tournament was held in Granada, Spain and was won by Dread Pageant WnR/CC piloted by Fran Torres. Here’s the deck list, which has a few significant differences from my own second-place winning Wrack Me Harder, Zaddy. Glad to see both that DP is doing well internationally and that there isn’t a settled ‘best build’ even within the same pairing!
The Philipines continues their march toward glory, holding the nation’s first ever Nemesis event at Atelier Tabletop Brewspace this month. Keep the dice rolling!
The Cherokee Open was held on 2/22, and Zack Newcome came away the winner with Thundrik’s Profiteers using Pillage & Plunder/Wrack & Ruin, winning a tight one over Spiteclaw’s Swarm. An interesting matchup and an interesting deck pairing that even comes with both a deck guide and a tournament report he wrote for Battle Mallet!

Painting/Hobby

Emphilim’s Pandaemonium by Honza Skypala in a remarkable color palette – bright and candied without being overly so, somehow horrifying and hideous, and all of it with amazing technical execution. Exactly what Tzeentch wanted us to see. Love it.
Liam Hopkins shares some progress on the ‘Cyreni riding a giant shark’ diorama
The second prize in the Master category at Duncan Rhodes’ Sir Coats painting contest went to Vernon Lees for their Gorlak Blackpowder. Check it out!
Crazy double-light-source OSL on the Grymwatch by Dagg3rsB, and I love the two-tone effect. Very spooky! Here’s their gorgeous Grandfather’s Gardeners, and they also completed a converted Magore’s Fiends this month which look HARDCORE
You want more Magore? Me too! Here’s a cool one by Go_will_do with excellent blending, solid NMM, and a very smooth effect. They also painted up Ghartok Flayskull in the same Metal AF scheme. Not one to slow down, they also shared the Wurmspat with remarkable texture work that really pops.
Cyreni’s Razors that features the Great Wave of Kanagawa (that famous Japanese painting) on her cloak, done up by Dan Knight. The rest of the warband is there too, and he posted some Bretonnian Condemnors conversions for good measure.
Piggyyy posted up what they’re calling Ylthari’s Punishers, which have awesome headswaps to make those treemen BIG MAD and the effect is great. I especially appreciate the alterations in pose and weapon placement – Galanghann particularly looks threatening and it’s such a contrast with the soft pink colors
Retro Space Wolves themed Farasa by Minimalist_Basing, which looks like something right out of my old 3rd ed 40K codex, complete with a Goblin Green base rim!
Mir Kainan in a great black, red, and NMM gold by Bravesheep16. Especially enjoy the gritty snow basing which has top tier realism and elevates the whole paintjob which is already quite remarkable on its own
Awesome detail and blending on Gryselle, The Slaughterer by EspiKira. She even has lightning arcing from her blade!
Great color saturation and an exciting almost rainbow variety on the Tunnelpack by OpusWild – makes me want to try oil paints out for myself
Emberwatch painted as bright teal Celestial Vindicators by KPminis. Love the lightning blades and the magenta cloaks!
Kaptin Squigbeard by ShorelessSkies – awesome orruk conversion on Blackpowder complete with a pirate hat like God intended.
Dark purple and brass Zikkit’s Tunnelpack by Kruks_Minis and let me tell you, the photography takes it to the next level
Cool rusty Grinkrak’s Looncourt in a grimdark style by anatolikav

Emberwatch by Daniel Davies – I love the yellow gold weaponry!

More awesome fan art from Vanja, this time portraying Zarbag’s Gitz, and he also posted his Zikkit’s Tunnelpack for us all to enjoy as well.
Gorechosen of Dromm custom reshaped into a Soulblight/Vampire Counts team by Ben Byrne, naming them Carmilla’s Blood Hunt. Cool idea to re-skin something to make it your own without bringing up custom warband balance issues.
Custom Warscroll for Hrothgorn’s Mantrappers in Embergard by Zin333 which feels like it carries over a lot of the original warband flavor
That’s a wrap! Tune in next month for March’s highlights, and don’t forget to Spend your Glory!
