Featured this month are these stunning Knives of the Crone by Mauri de la Gándara – the purples and skin tones are so professionally done. I have never seen Azphel look so good. They also got Kaerna Vix to look proportional (with awesome fades on the greaves), and have this crazy cool video of the spear girl Tazari

Back with a vengeance, Wunderworlds has updated to catch up with all the newest stuff, improve their deckbuilder to ‘remember’ the selected decks between library tabs, as well as adding a new plage to the club: Tools. Head on over to https://wunderworlds.club/tools and while it’s desktop only for now, you can use the new tools to practice deployment, put together some visuals to explain a point, and play around with some new things. Always glad to see fxdxpz continue to work magic!
For the lorehounds out there, 12SmallHats has updated the card text database with Thyrielle’s Zephyrites alongside a few other miscellaneous updates.

A new French language page has been launched this month! Check out EDF Underworlds, which will also be hosting translated posts from Spent Glory. Here’s their work on best warbands for new players
Path to Glory’s Bacon’s Bits series has an excellent summary of the pros and cons of competitive application of the new Nexus of Power deck, which mirrors a lot of my experience. If you’re playing with or against NoP, this is a greatly informative yet succinct read.
Path to Glory also has their review of Thyrielle’s Zephyrites up for us to read
What the Hex also has their coverage of Thyrielle and friends
Staggerers has two good articles posted this month: First is a review of cool multi-card combos available in every deck combination. Then, a review of ‘Steel Garden” – a specific look at three different ways to craft Coutdown/Hunting Grounds decks. Having just been curbstomped by this pairing and Kurnoth’s Heralds, I suggest people get familiar with it!
Jon Grant Miniatures has put together a ‘Start Here’ guide for everything the page has to offer, including many underworlds content posts but also a huge number of painting guides

Events/Organized Play

May 2-3 was the Alberta Classic at the Ogre’s Den in Calgary, AB Canada. The event had THREE worlds tickets on the line, and the win went to G with Sons of Velmorn and ES/Nexus. Wild! Skeleton Hold is back! Joining him at worlds this year to fill out Team Canada’s roster will be Steve Hunnie, Samski, and David/Beardarm. Other nations beware, that’s a squad of tough customers right there.
May 9th, Agents of Sigmar held a tournament with two golden tickets in Redhill UK. Jon Grant went with his Blackpowder and wrote this battle report. Congratulations to Silverstre for winning the tournament with the Knives of the Crone, and to Captain Moseby for coming second with the Soulraid! Both are headed to Barcelona this year for worlds.

May 23-24 saw the Canadian Tabletop Championships in Ottawa. Derek ‘Kaptain Murder’ Traquair took the win with his ‘Godslayer’ Wurmspat build. George from Path to Glory landed in second, but since he’s already ticketed to worlds, the other two in the top 4 with a trip to worlds in Spain will be Max Zdor and Graham Mann. More Canadians?! Pound for Pound greats I tell ya.

May 30-31 featured the UK’s first Warhammer Open event: The Birmingham Open. A Warhammer Underworlds Grand Clash was hosted at the NEC for the UK Games Expo. 17 players were competing (5 of whom brought the Jaws of Itzl!). Val Hornik’s Zarbag’s Gitz and CC/DS took the win, but amazingly, the final saw him face off against Thundrik’s Profiteers (!?!?) with CC/HG piloted by Tim Lemmon. Be on the lookout for a Love Letter about those dwarves…
May 30-31 was also the Polish Individual Championships in Poznań. 35 players duked it out in 9 best of 1 rounds on Saturday with a top 8 cut for Sunday, and then the top 8 played 3 best of 3 rounds to determine the champion and the golden ticket. With 18 different warbands, the field was pretty diverse (though there were 4 Jaws, 4 Soulraid, 3 Ironsoul’s, 3 Zarbag’s, 3 Wurmspat, and a surprising 3 Shadeborn!). While I haven’t figured out who won yet, I did hear there was an undefeated Shadeborn in day 1.

Fuchsia/Magenta Skittershanks by amaliasminiatures… and she claims this was a ‘quick project’ she knocked out in just 15 hours! Amazing talent – having just painted mine in probably half the amount of total time, the difference is staggering – mine are far less than half as good. Hats off to Amalia.
