Featured this month is Morgok’s Krushas in a splendid frost weapons scheme inspired by World of Warcraft as painted by CHK Sutdio. I absolutely love the teal plate against the pallid purples of the skin, even if the weaponry is the intended focus. Just such a home run color pairing.

PODCASTS

Underworlds Underground posted another After Dark episode, and while it’s of course full of derivative and questionable content as usual, it also contains a decent amount of relevant-to-the-game discussion and for once might actually teach you something. Give it a listen (without your kids around)

Agents of Sigmar has a pair of interesting videos for us this month; the first is titled “What’s going on with Underworlds” which speculates on future releases and what might happen down the road based on the recent lull. Second, they followed up with a video about “What’s Wrong with Underworlds and How Do We Fix It” proposing some changes they would like to see.
Tom Murrath posted a battle report between Blood of the Bull and the Gnarlspirit Pack. He also posted a little discussion on his decision not to attend the World Championships this year despite qualifying in March.
Odisea Games interviews a new Warhammer hobbyist about her interest in the community and why she chose Warhammer Underworlds to be the game she’s going to play – it was a no-brainer when she saw how cool the people are and the game was easy to pick up as well
Misfit Guild covers their list of the top ten warbands, and followed it up with a video reviewing the Wurmspat in detail. Finally, they presented a battle report with a showdown between Grandfather’s Gardeners and Kurnoth’s Heralds.
Warband.Ru has some Russian language battle reports! these are older, but I only just found them. Here’s Emberwatch vs Ylthari’s Guardians, and here’s Dread Pageant vs Gorechosen of Dromm.
BLOGS

Staggerers posted a pair of super informative articles this month. The first was an incredibly deep-dive review of Nexus of Power and its place as the ‘second hold deck’. Second was a strong look back at Edge of the Knife and a discussion on why it hasn’t had much meta impact nearly two years out from release.
The Lincoln Log posted about their tournament experience at the NOVA Open, filled with his trademark humor as well as a description of an absolutely wild “1.5th Edition” where you play 2e rules with randomly drawn 1e cards. This was followed by an article the ten best combinations of 2e warbands with 1e cards that includes some disgustingly strong options. (Shardgale, I miss you)
Jon Grant Miniatures posted his battle reports from the Spitewood Smash Up tournament hosted by Agents of Sigmar where he eventually took second place with Blackpowder’s Buccaneers
Team France has a rundown of their experience at the World Team Championships last month
“The Grymwatch’s Second Victory – In the Name of the King” is an article on a russian site about Vtoraja Pobeda and a recent tournament win he had with PP/Edge. I think I have linked the google translated version? Give it a look and see how they made the Edge of the Knife magic happen.
Events/Organized Play
The NOVA Open happened early this month in Washington, DC, and in the end Samski/Sam Benneri took the win with Mollog’s Mob and BA/RF, Hexecution/Joseph Lipczynski got second place with Grymwatch EK/DS (and earned a ticket to worlds), and Path to Glory’s Mark Breault/Baconborne snagged third with The Sons of Velmorn ES/NP (beating out Jesse Hardman in 4th with the same warband and the same pairing!). Here’s an event writeup on the Lincoln Log
September 11th saw one-dayer at CRUCIBLE 2026 – WARHAMMER AT DISNEY WORLD in Lake Buena Vista Florida. The event was won by Panzy, who took the win with Myari’s Purifiers BA/ES, going undefeated through four rounds (even beating Jaws and Wurmspat) to get a Golden Ticket to the World Championships.
September 12th was FREAKWARS in Madrid once again, with Mollog’s Mob taking the win with Hackman of Los Cobras in the driver’s seat. Yury got second place out of 26 entrants with his DS/RF Shadeborn. Having fought the same thing at Tacoma I knew it was good, but this is yet more evidence to that claim.

Mid September we got the results of the Moscow Team Tournament, a 3-player teams format that does not allow duplicate rivals decks across the whole team’s pairings. The event featured 36 players over 19 matches per team. Russia’s meta has always been very intriguing to me because it’s so completely different than everything else we see worldwide. The winning team this year had Crimson Court (the only undefeated warband in the whole event?!?), Zondara’s Gravebreakers, and Skittershank’s Clawpack. Not at all what you expect! Here’s a Link to a meta-review I did on the event.
September 19th was the South East Spitewood Smash Up, hosted by Agents of Sigmar in Redhill UK. In the end, Imogen Lidbetter went undefeated with Thricefold Discord, and she’s continued to do well with them across editions and remakes despite the community’s perception of the warband. Well done! Jon Grant got second with Blackpowder’s Buccaneers (you can read his event report on his blog here), and Laura Bates took third with Morgok’s Krushas. A golden ticket passed down to Jon Chambers with Shadeborn, who finished in fourth.

The 19th also was Hradec Králové, a Czech Underworlds event where T. Zach P won with Mollog, second was Stefan Varga with Thyrielle, and in last at 17th place was community hero Honza Skýpala who tried to do something with Sepulchral Guard. What a king.
9/24 we saw another Thunderworlds clash at Warhammer World, where Sam Baird won with Thorns of the Briar Queen (having almost beaten me at Worlds with the same thing!)
September 27th was Benelux Clash VI in Amsterdam’s Van der Valk Hotel Schiphol. The top three went entirely to the Staggerers crew: Luba K with Thorns, Quint van Druten with Zarbag, and Michael K with Thanatek’s Tithe. What an Austrian invasion!
I also missed it earlier, but there was a 24-man Moscow Event in July named the Spitewood Cup #6 that was won by Andrey Fisenko taking Grymwatch Edge/Pillage. A good deck writeup is here, and the deck itself is here. Full analysis of the event is here.

Painting/Hobby

Amazing Ghulgoch conversion by James Davies – I love the ram horn banner and the vivid pink viscera against the otherwise drab and muted Nurgle theme. The rusting is great and really offsets the pallid skin – not to mention the huge diorama base he’s on! Great work!

Magenta to Mint fade on Mir Kainan with superb bidirectional lighting by km_md60. Pay special attention to the flowing pattern on the blade and freehand detail on the bone carapace!

Draknar, my beloved. Excellent metallic effects, believably real skin, and the lighting on the horns! Round of applause for by Arronaks55

Martell Painter with an amazing conversion on Fecula and the Wurmspat. Those cloth textures are nuts!

TorianXela took 460 hours to paint this NMM Sons of Velmorn, but they’re gorgeous. I especially love the blues, and am very impressed with how the metal still looks battered but shiny.

JML Miniatures has a striking Gorechosen of Dromm, in stark reds and offset by a moody blue base scheme. Check out these Herax closeups too!

Jon Morgan of Hellhound Paints painted up an amazing Crimson Court which were set within a picture frame. This display won a Silver trophy at Iron Skull 2026 and Gold at the Kraken 2026 painting competition.
Last month I Am Not Alpharius gave us a heavily converted set of Gardeners, this month you see them in their ‘natural splendor’
Mauron Warpainter has two cool things this month; first is an orange Prog Da Netta, and second is a really nasty skinned Mollog
Magore’s Fiends in dark red and black trim by mroz4; look at those gums on the axe and the dark turquoise accents
Pretty sweet vaporwave Fuirann by Studio 489
This battle-worn Ironsoul by kroppy77 is titled Short Reprieve, and was originally submitted to Essen’s Golden Daemon a few years ago. Some unique damage here!
Beautiful eggshell effect on the skin for Ephilim and Spawnmaw by 61 Painting
Andre Lavin has Skittershank’s Clawpack done in an excellent fuchsia and great NMM work
Cool Zarbag’s Gitz in the classic night goblin scheme by Neil Szabo
Sufficient-Engine829 has some bone-colored, stone-textured armor on Ironsoul’s Condemnors for us all
Well done and very smooth Morgok’s Krushas in the classic yellow, but muted this time by ManufacturerLive9657. They also slap chopped Zikkit’s Tunnelpack. Excellent popping colors! I’m starting to get why they’re named ‘live manufacturer’ because the engine is revving; they ALSO did up Blackpowder’s Buccaneers in NMM which is sparkling
Alariis dropped some OSL hexbane which I always love to see
More Ironsoul! Wooden-Train9311 has a set in red and cream, with a very sharp potion glass blue.
A handful of Zarbag’s models by SpexRays
WIP of Prince Duvalle themed as Juno Hoslow by ConsiderationOwn2589
