My local club out of Seattle, Rain City Thunderworlds, is holding a painting contest! A lot of new product has come out in the last few weeks and most of us have a basket of unpainted plastic sitting at our paint stations (assuming we didn’t already have a backlog!), so it was prime time for some group motivation. We had two months to paint with a new year’s eve deadline, and I’ll post the final submission below for you all to vote on.

The criteria are “I like how this one looks”. That’s it. Pick your top five, in order.

Michael F’s Blood of the Bull

I went with pink because it’s a color I haven’t played much with since the Nightvault era, and I thought a little SlaanChorf action would be fun. Mostly I liked the idea of pink curls of smoke from Tokkor’s flamethrower.

Ryan L’s Xandire’s Truthseekers

“Last month, I proposed to my girlfriend with a platinum ring so I painted these stormcasters for her! Her birthstone is peridot which is why they are green also. Hopefully we will play our first game together soon!”

Editor’s note: they did play their game, and she scored Annihilation against him to win.

Mike B’s Thorns of the Briar Queen

Mike claims he wanted these to look “Spooky” and my daughter confirms “Those guys are pretty spooky ghosts”. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Good lord I miss this warband, and YOU can’t miss the fluoro paint effect in what he’s titled “Tzeentchian fever dream”

Vanja didn’t finish by the deadline, but I didn’t want to derive you of this visual feast – nor did I want to deprive him of the votes this partial product will inevitably still earn. What a masterclass. You can’t rush this kind of stuff.
