Spent Glory started out as a resource to help new players get into the game of Warhammer Underworlds, as well as make it easier for returning players to get back into things after a period of time away. That’s still the guiding principle of this page and as a result, I’ve transitioned my focus into second edition and Embergard. Moving forward, I’m going to be publishing content that generally helps shepherd new and returning players into the game in whatever its current state might be. I serve far fewer people if I say “here’s how you build a deck with cards you can’t purchase and warbands that aren’t available” if my intent is the help somebody new get started.

That said, I want to be respectful of the First Edition crowd – it’s where this whole site got started after all, and I did love that game a great deal. Many of my documents remain in first edition and will be staying that way. I know there exist pockets of community that will keep playing the old game and don’t want to play the new one, and I’m not trying to yuck your yum, as they say. While I’m not going to put a ton of energy into first edition myself anymore, I wanted to still provide some resources for those of you that are going to stay in the old ways (or for anybody who wants to dabble in how the world once was).
With that in mind, I will be maintaining some of my first edition resources and wanted to put them all in one place, right here, so that they’re easy to find for people in the future. If you’re a first edition diehard, consider bookmarking this article for future reference. In the meantime, here’s everything I’m keeping that’s First Edition aligned, so you can pop back in and have it all linked together in one place.

While I am also not opposed to featuring first edition content submissions from passionate players, but Spent Glory isn’t going to be an ‘old game’ focused page. If you think there’s a need for a First Edition/Shadespire focused page, I would absolutely support somebody launching their own website for the people who want to read and write about that! It’s not in the borders I’ve set for myself, but if the people want it, somebody should absolutely put something together. Let me know if you cook one up or find something like that and I will promote it without question.
Whether you’re delving the Gnarlwood, plumbing the depths of the Nethermaze, Claiming the City of Shadespire, or hard-charging into the future of Embergard with me, I hope you enjoy spending your glory.
